How to get to Mola Kaliva

From Thessaloniki: 

Duration of drive: 1,25 hrs 

Driving on the National Road Thessaloniki – Kassandria, we exit to 

Kassandria – Siviri – Mola Kalyva.

Difficulty grade: very difficult for the first 4-5km, steep uphill through the forest, it gets easier aw it is descending from the forest, needs trekking or MTB

Road conditions: it’s a combination of tarmac (5%) and gravel (95%). 

Course safety: it’s a course driveable by car that could follow the biker for maximum safety, provided it’s an off - road one. 

You might come across beehives at some points, due to the local forest honey production.

Course safety: it’s a course driveable by car that could follow the hiker for maximum safety, provided it’s an off - road one.

You might come across beehives at some points, due to the local forest honey production.

  

Data and course analysis

 

1.      (wpt 1)    (alt.= 18m)

The beginning of the route is from Mola Kalyva and we start our course straight from the coastal road towards the village of Kalandra.

2.      At 1.11 km we meet  (wpt 2)     (alt.= 12m)

at the intersection of the National Road Nea Skioni - Kassandreia and we will continue our course to the left towards the village Kalandra (asphalt road).

3.      After 1.88 km (wpt 3)    (alt.= 10m)

we will meet a junction and continue our course right uphill and then straight onto the asphalt road.

 

4.      Continue our course following the main asphalt road until at 2,59 km we meet 

(wpt 4)     (alt.= 78m)

were we meet a junction and we will continue right to the village of Fourka without leaving the main dirt road.

5.      At 3.63 km we meet  (wpt 5)     (alt.= 183m)

has a junction and we will continue our course right following the main dirt road.

6.      At 3,70 km we will meet  (wpt 6)     (alt.= 200m)

has an intersection where we will continue straight to the hill following the main dirt road.

7.      At 3.81 km we will meet  (wpt 7)     (alt.= 214m)

has a fantastic view point towards Mendi, the Aegean Sea and we will continue our course straight uphill following the main dirt road.

8.      At 3,88 km we meet  (wpt 8)     (alt.= 223m)

and a fantastic view point towards Nea Skioni, Mola Kalyva and Agia Paraskevi Baths. We continue our course straight and uphill following the main dirt road.

9.      At 4.23 km we will meet  (wpt 9)     (alt.= 265m)

has an intersection where we will continue right uphill following the central dirt road.

10.  At 4,38 km we will meet  (wpt 10)     (alt.= 289m)

has a junction and we will continue our course left and uphill following the main dirt road and we also find a point of fantastic view towards Nea Skioni.

11.  At 4,83 km we meet  (wpt 11)     (alt.= 290m)

has a fantastic view point towards Nea Skioni the Agia Paraskevi Baths, and the Aegean Sea. We continue our course straight up the hill following the main dirt road.

12.  At 5.01 km we will meet  (wpt 12)    (alt.= 289m)

has an intersection and we will continue our course right after following the main dirt road.

13.At 5,50 km we will meet   (wpt 13)    (alt.= 295m)

has an intersection and we will continue our course to the left following the main dirt road.

14.  At 5.87 km we will meet the  (wpt 14)     (alt.= 306m)

located at the Rahona fire watch tower where we find an amazing viewpoint and you can see the whole of Kassandra peninsula.

We will continue our course straight ahead following the main dirt road.

15.  At 6.04 km we will meet  (wpt 15)     (alt.= 294m)

has an intersection and we will continue our course left downhill without leaving the main dirt road.

16.  At 6,86 km we meet  (wpt 16)     (alt.= 282m)

has a junction where we will continue our course right and downhill following the main dirt road.

17.  At 6.97 km we meet  (wpt 17)     (alt.= 280m)

has an intersection where we will continue our course right and downhill following the main dirt road.

18.  At 7,18 km we will meet (wpt 18) 

    (alt.= 270m)

has an intersection where we will continue our course left downhill following the main dirt road.

You will also see a panoramic spot overlooking Skala Fourka (Beach).

19.  At 7.43 km we will meet  (wpt 19)     (alt.= 261m)

has a junction where we will continue our course right downhill following the main dirt road.

20.  At 7.74 km we will meet  (wpt 20)     (alt.= 237m)

has an intersection where

1. going left leads to the church of Panagia Meletis (Birth of the Virgin).

2. Going straight we head to the village of Fourkas (following the river).

We will continue our course on the left for the church of Panagia Meletis (Birth of the Virgin).

21.  At 8,13 km we meet  (wpt 21)     (alt.= 202m)

has an intersection where

1. going left we head to the church of Panagia Meletis (the birth of the Virgin Mary)

2. going right we are heading to the chapel Panagia Meletis (Cave).

We will continue our course on the left for the church of Panagia Meletis (Birth of the Virgin).

22.  At 8.42 km we will meet  (wpt 22)     (alt.= 178m)

where there is the church of Panagia Meletis (Birth of the Virgin). We will continue our course straight ahead following the main dirt road.

23.  At 8,72 km we will meet  (wpt 23)     (alt.= 180m)

has a junction where we will continue our course right downhill following the central dirt road.

24.  At 9,30 km we will meet  (wpt 24)     (alt.= 107m)

has a panoramic view point where you will see the village of Fourka and Skala Fourka (Beach).

We will continue our course straight and downhill following the main dirt road.

 

25.  At 9.57 km we will meet  (wpt 25)     (alt.= 70m)

has a junction where we will continue our course left following the central dirt road.

26.  At 9,80 km we meet  (wpt 26)     (alt.= 43m)

has a junction where we will continue our course left following the central dirt road.

27.  At 9,94 km we will meet  (wpt 27)     (alt.= 39m)

has a junction where we will continue our course right to the village of Fourka.

28.  At 10,02 km we meet  (wpt 28)     (alt.= 38m)

has a junction where we will continue our course left towards the main square of the village of Fourka.

29.  At 10.41 km we will meet  (wpt 29)     (alt.= 35m)

we reach the central square of Fourka village.

 

The village of Fourka is a small traditional village where you can enjoy your coffee, eat in the taverns and at 4 km you can visit Skala Fourka (Beach) where you can enjoy your swim and enjoy the coffee and try the seafood dishes at the coastal fish taverns.
