Driving on the National Road Thessaloniki – Kassandria, we exit to Kallithea.

Data and course analysis

 

1.      (wpt 1)     (alt. = 36m)

The start of the course is at Kallithea traffic lights. In Kallithea, there is the unique archaeological site of the Ammon Zeus temple (on the beach), cafes, restaurants, fantastic beach, bars and a notorious nightlife. You may also find local olive oil and honey.

We start by turning right at the traffic lights towards Kriopigi, on tarmac.

 

(Attention! There is a pedestrian walk on our left, to Kriopigi.)

2.      At 1,24km we find a junction  (wpt 2)    (alt. = 11m)

We turn right towards the nightclubs, on tarmac.

3.      At 1,36km  (wpt 3)     (alt. = 11m)

At the junction, we turn left over the bridge and then straight on the gravel road to Kriopigi.

4.      We follow the main gravel road until 1, 74 km where we find (wpt 4)

     (alt. = 11m)

We turn right on the main gravel road.

5.      At 2,30km we arrive at  (wpt 5)     (alt. = 16m)

We turn to the left uphill at the junction and continue straight, without leaving the main gravel road.

6.      At 2, 98 km we approach  (wpt 6)     (alt. = 52m)

We continue straight through the junction on the main gravel road.

7.      At 4, 32 km we reach  (wpt 7)     (alt. = 91m)

We turn left uphill at the junction, without leaving the main gravel road.

8.      At 4, 62 km we find  (wpt 8)     (alt. = 104m)

There is a great viewpoint (provided the atmosphere is clear) to the Sithonia peninsula over the Toroneos gulf.

We continue straight, without leaving the main gravel road.

9.      At 5,25km we get to  (wpt 9)     (alt. = 126m)

We keep to the right and uphill at the junction, staying on the main gravel road.

10.  At 5,46km we arrive at  (wpt 10)     (alt. = 145m)

There is a junction where:

1. To the left leads to Kriopigi’s main square and

2. To the right it leads to Kassandria.

 

We turn right (on tarmac) to Kassandria.

11.  At 5, 54 km we approach  (wpt 11)     (alt. = 149m)

There is a junction, where:

1. To the left leads to Kassandrino and

2. To the right and uphill leads to Kassandria and the chapel of Aghia Paraskevi (there is a road sign).

 

We turn right. It’s tarmac for the first 30m and then gravel.

12.  At 5,90km we reach  (wpt 12)     (alt. = 157m)

At the triple junction, we continue straight on the main gravel road for the chapel of Aghia Paraskevi.

13.  At 6, 10 km we get to (wpt 13)

       (alt. = 163m)

The chapel of Aghia Paraskevi. We continue left downhill at the junction, without leaving the main gravel road.

14.  At 6,16km we find  (wpt 14)     (alt. = 165m)

We keep to the right and downhill on the main gravel road.

15.  At 6, 51 km we arrive at  (wpt 15)    (alt. = 134m)

We keep to the right on the main gravel road.

16.  At 7,41km we approach  (wpt 16)    (alt. = 105m)

We continue straight on the main gravel road.

17.  At 7, 91 km we reach  (wpt 17)     (alt. = 104m)

We continue straight on the main gravel road.

18.  At 8, 40 km we get to  (wpt 18)     (alt. = 97m)

We continue straight and downhill on the main gravel road.

19.  At 9, 01 km we find  (wpt 19)    (alt. = 44m)

There is a triple junction, where:

1.  Straight to Kassandria,

2. Right and downhill to Kallithea.

 

We turn right.

20.At 10, 03 km we arrive at(wpt 20)     (alt. = 22m)

There is a triple junction, where:

1.  Straight is a dead end,

2. Left and downhill gets to Kallithea from the main road side (western side),

3. Right and uphill gets to Kallithea form the nightclubs side (southern side).

 

We turn right.

21.  At 10, 19 km we approach (wpt 21)     (alt. = 22m)

We keep on the main gravel road turning left to the nightclubs. 

22.  At 10,94km we reach   (wpt 22)     (alt. = 10m)

We turn left over the bridge and follow the tarmac to Kallithea.

23.  At 11,07km we find  (wpt 23)     (alt. = 9m)

It’s the junction with the main road (Kallithea – Kriopigi). We turn left uphill to Kallithea.

 

(Attention! There is a pedestrian walk on our right)

24.  At 12, 33 km we arrive at  (wpt 24)     (alt. = 36m)

We’ ve arrived at the center of Kallithea.
